Additional sundry costs

Small charges on the day for roll ups and refreshments.

If participating in a match (eg League, Friendly), small match fee charge will apply.

Open Day 2025 FAQs

When are you open?

Outdoor Summer programme - April to September

Monday          2pm* - 4pm               Casual bowling

Tuesday         10am*  - 12 noon       Casual bowling

Wednesday    2.30pm - 5pm            Instruction (May/June)

Wednesday    6pm* - 9.30pm          Club Night

At weekends we play friendly matches against other clubs, and organise Club events.

* Please turn up 15 minutes prior to start time.

Indoor:  We open in the winter for shortmat bowling in our Clubhouse, September to April. Winter opening times vary slightly.

Will you teach me how to bowl?

We will be running instruction sessions for new bowlers, starting on Wednesday 14th May, see above for timings. These sessions will run during May and June. We will review this if further sessions are needed.

Do you have social events?

We have social evenings throughout the year.  During the outdoor season we get together on a Wednesday evening every week - sometimes for a casual roll up, but monthly for other activities (target bowls, bonkers bowls etc) and we try to sit down to eat together on a monthly basis.  During the indoor season we have a monthly social event (race night, Quiz night, music night etc) typically on a Saturday night, again usually with a meal.

What about parking?

As a member you will be issued with a parking permit.

Membership

Our Membership year starts 1/5, and the fee is £200 which entitles you to bowl all year round - outdoors from April to September and for the rest of the year on ‘short mats’ in our Clubhouse.  For new bowlers, we offer a 50% discount.

Are there any additional costs?

There is a small charge of £3 for casual bowling (roll ups), and an additional £1 if you would like tea/coffee and a biscuit! Other similar low charges apply for competitions and matches.

Do I need to buy a set of bowls?

No, we will lend you a set of bowls when you start, although we can’t guarantee this will always be the same set as other bowlers may use them. Second hand bowls are available on the second hand market eg eBay.

What should I wear?

We ask that you wear flat soled shoes. For the most part we bowl in casual wear although some leagues and competitions may have requirements eg a club shirt.

Items can be moved around by dragging and resized using the resize handles on their left and right sides while they are selected. These appear as draggable translucent white squares.
